Hated the Movie, loved the Fan-based Trailer (Plus Two Cent/Second Review)

Nurv.com created a Inception-inspired Dumb & Dumber trailer. From my recollection, the movie was cheesy and chocked full of slapstick, cheap laughs. My boyfriend seems to think it was a cinematic achievement. Seeing this trailer made me wish I remembered it differently!

And my two cent/ review of Inception:

Unstoppable Trailer and Cast

MTV Movies Blog offers the first look at the 20th Century Fox production, Unstoppable. Denzel Washington and Chris Pine play a experienced railroad conductor and trainee (giggles at the play on word) respectively. Their are tasked with stopping an unmanned freight train, filled with biohazardous explosives, before it "wipes out a city." This film reunites director Tony Scott with Washington for the fifth time (Crimson Tide, Man on Fire, Déjà Vu and Taking of Pelham 1 2 3).

Reel It In: Catfish

This fall's movie releases are shaping up to be an awesome lineup for theaters! I kept hearing about Catfish in passing, but it wasn't until I saw this trailer that I wanted to share with fellow movie lovers. Catfish appears to start out like a simple lighthearted documentary when Nev (played by Henry Joost) wants to make an online connection in person. His friends tag along chronicling the journey which turns into something that no one could have ever expected.

The blogosphere is brimming with positive reviews after the film debuted at Sundance earlier this year. Many critics laud its clever use of technology to tell the story and its social implications. The Hollywood  Reporter adds:
"Catfish" provides those fearful of new tech myriad reasons to second-guess life in the Second Life age. The filmmakers not only document the many ways services like Facebook and YouTube move the real-world action along, but they use the tools themselves as storytellers -- charting trips on Google Maps, calling upon the search giant's "street view" photographs to flesh out their detective work, and so on.
Honestly, seems like a film that might usher in a new type of film. Ed Norton (loves him!) insisted:
"Catfish was one of the most surprising movies I have seen in a long time. The movie shifted tones 3 times, it was hilarious, then it was truly terrifying, then it was really profound and moving. That is what you aspire to do in a movie."
They have created a virtual world where you can see Nev's Apple desktop. I was hoping to get a closer look at two still later in the trailer, but the photos and videos featured provide context for our protagonist photographer.

Catfish swims into theaters September 17th.

A Handsome Night on The Town

Apple has the latest trailer for The Town. Ben Affleck (also writing and directing), John Hamm (Mad Men), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) star in the latest project out of Warner Bros. The Town hits theaters September 17th. According to various sites, the film follows four bank robbers after their latest heist as they avoid authorities.

Looks like a great film, glad to see Affleck at the helms since Gone Baby Gone. On screen, he hasn't bounced back from Gigli and Hollywoodland, but Smokin' Aces and He's Just Not that Into You garnered a cult following and critical acclaim respectively. I have a soft spot in my heart for Renner after seeing him in a straight to video, Neo Ned and smaller TV appearances.

The "Power" of Facebook: A Fan-Made Trailer

I am excited to see The Social Network. Apparently, so is outspoken rapper, Kanye West. You might have heard about his recent impromptu performance at their headquarters. Here's a version of the movie trailer with  West's new single, "Power." Personally, I like this version better. A fitting song if I might say so.

You can get see the newly updated trailer and get all the production's updates on their official site, here. The featured trailer could have been two trailers as the first 54 seconds flash before your eyes like those new iPhone Facetime commercials. The second half (equally as good) is more dramatic and provides a sense of the movie's intensity and arch.

Zack Snyder Sucker Punches Audiences with 2011 Project

When I saw that High School Musical star, Vanessa Hudgens was attached to a ZACK SNYDER project called Sucker Punch, I almost wrote it off. I also saw former "Real World" member Jamie Chung (she went on to star in Sorority Row). Again, I thought, I'll pass. When I read that Emily Browning (photoshopped featured in the below poster) was starring I thought I may listen out for news. I liked her in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and earlier projects. I did become interested when hearing that John Hamm (Mad Men) and Carla Gugino (Watchmen), and Jena Malone (The Soloist) were cast. I absolutely loved Malone in Bastard out of Carolina and Donnie Darko, I predict she'll be the voice of reason in this flick.

The trailer and more when you read on....
